Frequently asked questions
Skin Pen FAQ's
Does SkinPen microneedling hurt?
During the microneedling procedure, most clients experience minimal discomfort. To ensure your comfort, we apply a topical numbing cream to the treatment area before starting. This helps numb the skin, reducing any pain or irritation. You may feel a slight tingling or sensation of pressure, but it’s generally well-tolerated. If you have any concerns, please let us know, and we can adjust the treatment to your comfort level.
How long will it take to see results from SkinPen microneedling?
While some improvement may be visible immediately after the procedure, the full benefits of microneedling typically become noticeable in about 4 to 6 weeks as your skin starts to heal and produce collagen. For optimal results, multiple sessions may be recommended, spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart. We’ll discuss a treatment plan tailored to your specific goals during your consultation.
What is the recovery time after a SkinPen microneedling session?
After a microneedling treatment, you may experience some redness and slight swelling, similar to a mild sunburn, which usually subsides within 24 to 48 hours. Your skin might feel dry and tight as it heals, and light flaking can occur as the skin rejuvenates. Most clients are able to return to their normal activities the next day, but we recommend avoiding sun exposure, intense workouts, and harsh skincare products for a few days to ensure the best results
Tox FAQ's
What are neurotoxins, and how do they work?
Neurotoxins, like Botox and Xeomin, are injectable treatments that temporarily relax the muscles responsible for wrinkles and fine lines. They work by blocking the signals from the nerves to the muscles, which prevents those muscles from contracting. This helps smooth out wrinkles, particularly in areas like the forehead, between the brows, and around the eyes, giving you a more youthful and relaxed appearance.
Is receiving tox painful?
Most people find neurotoxin injections to be relatively quick and minimally uncomfortable. You may feel a slight pinch or a small sting as the needle is injected, but the discomfort is generally brief. If you're concerned about pain, we can apply a topical numbing cream before the procedure to ensure your comfort. The injections typically take just a few minutes to complete.
How long will it take to see results, and how long do they last?
After your neurotoxin treatment, you may start seeing results within 3 to 5 days, with full effects visible in about 10 to 14 days. The results typically last 3-4 months, depending on your body’s response to the treatment and the area being treated. Regular maintenance treatments are usually required to keep the results looking fresh.
Are there any risks or side effects?
Side effects from neurotoxin injections are generally rare and mild. Some patients may experience temporary redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site, which typically resolves within a few hours to a few days. In very rare cases, clients may experience a mild headache or eyelid drooping, but these side effects are temporary and subside as the treatment wears off. Our skilled professionals take great care to ensure your treatment is safe and effective.
How soon can I return to normal activities after treatment?
It’s best to avoid strenuous exercise, excessive rubbing, or massaging of the treated areas for 24 hours to ensure optimal results. Please avoid lying down for at least 4 hours after your treatment. You may resume most daily activities right away; however, we recommend avoiding direct sun exposure and heavy makeup for the first few hours.
GLP FAQ's
What are Semaglutide & Tirzepatide?
Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are GLP-1 receptor agonists that help regulate blood sugar and appetite. Originally developed for type 2 diabetes, they are now also prescribed off-label or under FDA approval (injectables only) for chronic weight management in specific patient populations.
What is the difference between a GLP-1 & GIP?
GLP-1 focuses on slowing digestion and reducing appetite, while GIP enhances fat metabolism and improves energy balance. When combined (as in Tirzepatide), they create a more powerful, dual-action effect on weight loss and metabolic health.
How often do I take the medication?
These are once-weekly injections, usually self-administered at home after your initial training in the clinic.
How do I diet while on the medication?
You don’t need a “strict” diet, but pairing the medication with balanced nutrition and protein-based meals helps preserve muscle, regulate blood sugar, and improve results.
How do these medications help with weight loss?
They work by targeting hunger and fullness signals in the brain, helping you feel satisfied with smaller portions and reducing cravings. They also stabilize blood sugar and insulin, which supports steady fat loss—not just water weight.
What kind of results can I expect?
Everyone’s body is different, but most patients lose 15–25% of their body weight over several months when following their plan consistently. Safe weight loss is 1-3lbs per week.
Is it safe to use a compounded medication?
Compounded medications can be safe when prepared by a reputable, licensed pharmacy that follows strict quality and safety standards. However, it's crucial to know that compounded products are not FDA-approved, so patients should always consult a licensed provider and choose a pharmacy with transparent practices.
